The Nurse Practitioner Emergency Services is a Registered Nurse authorised to function autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role within Emergency Departments (EDs) of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District.

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) role includes focused assessment and management of patients using advanced knowledge and skills which may include but not limited to, ordering diagnostics investigations, prescribing medications and direct referral of patients to other health professionals.

The NP role is grounded in the nursing professions values, knowledge, theories and practice and provides innovative and flexible health care that complements other health providers. The scope of practice of the NP is determined by the context within which the NP is authorised to practice.The NP provides leadership that facilitated the ongoing development of clinical practice utilizing research in provision and development of education programs, clinical services planning and development of clinical practice standards.

The NP is regarded as the senior nursing clinician and resource person for the Emergency Department and works closely with the Nurse Manager, Nurse Unit Managers, Nurse Educator and Director of the Emergency Department in relation to provision of a high standard of care for patients.

The NP manages and cares for patients, utilising a model of care that is appropriate, timely and of high quality which is governed by the guidelines developed.

This is a new role to establish and pilot the Paediatric ADHD Primary Care Transition Pathway in Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD). You will provide expert clinical leadership, consultation and advice to Paediatricians, GPs, and other health services as well as guidance for families to support children and young people with ADHD The service aims to improve equitable, integrated and timely access to developmentally appropriate ADHD care by strengthening collaboration between ISLHD Paediatricians and General Practitioners in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment initiation and ongoing management of children and young people with ADHD and comorbid conditions.

The position is district-based and will based across three main sites - Wollongong Hospital Paediatrics, Shoalhaven Paediatric Outpatient Clinic and Kids Hub Illawarra.

From Helensburgh in the north to North Durras in the south, ISLHD covers an area of 5,687 square kms. The Public Health - Improvement (Strategy and Policy) team within Population Health is responsible for leading and supporting the delivery of major whole-of-government commitments in preventive and population health. This includes Tasmania's state 20-year preventive health strategy, state tobacco action plan, and relevant actions under the Long-Term Plan for Healthcare in Tasmania 2040.

In this role, you will,

• Lead policy and strategic planning activities, including drafting, implementing and reviewing statewide population health policies, strategies, plans and legislative or regulatory initiatives.
• Apply contemporary project and program management approaches to lead the planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of population health initiatives, projects and government commitments across the team's program of work.
• Lead the gathering, analysis and application of evidence, data and relevant contextual information to support evidence-informed population health policy, planning, program design and decision-making.

• Demonstrated experience and expertise in project management skills, including the ability to lead and deliver projects or initiatives within agreed priorities, timelines, resources, governance arrangements and reporting requirements.
• Demonstrated experience and expertise in policy and strategic planning skills, including supporting the development, implementation and review of policies, legislation, strategies and plans in a government, population health or related setting.
• Demonstrated high level skills in gathering, analysing and interpreting evidence, data and contextual information to support policy advice, planning, program design, implementation and decision-making.
