The St Vincent's Hospital Addiction Medicine Specialist position provides clinical leadership, supports specialty training, and promotes patient safety and quality across the Service, Drug Health, the Stream, and the Hospital.

The position proactively seeks to drive cross-service and cross-speciality expert care and training within and without the hospital.

The position provides specialist clinical care as part of a multidisciplinary team which may be in inpatient, outpatient and hospital liaison services.

The position also provides state-wide clinical care and leadership into the ADS Telehealth Service, the Service's telephony lines (Drug and Alcohol Specialist Advisory Service), and drives the Service's Collaborative Care approaches through leadership of outpatient services and liaison with internal and external providers.

The Position

• Practice communication - phone, reception, correspondence and patient information.

• Organising / booking referrals i.e. xray, ultrasound, CT scanning, MRI, other consultants.

• Accurate patient record keeping as required.

• Accurate Patient billing and revenue collection.

• Medical billing and related administration for a variety of Medical Practitioners.

• Maintain accurate records of sessional overruns, supplies and services used by each doctor.

The successful applicant will have previous experience as a Medical Secretary within a specialist practice and a strong understanding of medical terminology. They will demonstrate exceptional customer service skills, with highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities, enabling them to engage effectively with patients, doctors, caregivers, and colleagues.

Experience using Genie or similar medical practice software, together with intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel, is essential. The role requires a proactive and organised individual with the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively within a team to enhance efficiency, quality, and the overall patient, doctor, and caregiver experience.

Open Support is a community service organisation committed to providing assistance to families in need across New South Wales. Open Support offers services that are professional, flexible and responsive to emerging community needs.
