Your roleOur Community Services Centres (CSCs) are seeking passionate, resilient, and values-driven individuals who want to make a real difference in the lives of children and families across NSW. The Manager Casework role requires a blend of leadership, professional knowledge, strategic direction, reflective practice, and the ability to mentor and develop others. In this role, you will lead a team of Caseworkers and Casework Support Workers to deliver impactful, child centred practice.
What You'll DoAs a Manager Casework in a CSC, you will lead the coordination of daily priorities and resource allocation, supporting Caseworkers and Casework Support Workers to deliver high-quality, evidence-informed practice that promotes the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable children, young people, and families. You will apply your knowledge of best practice casework to drive consistent, high-quality service delivery through quality assurance, continuous improvement, and the implementation of practice reform. Reflective practice, professional learning, and a commitment to improving outcomes will be central to your leadership approach.
Your Day-to-day Duties May Include- Practising effective group and individual supervision,
- Leading practice and practice change, reform and implementation through feedback, quality assurance processes, mentoring and other practice support assistance.
- Quality assurance of information and records for children and young people to ensure practice aligns with the standards of the Office of the Children's Guardian.
- Preparation and review of legal documentation, briefings and correspondence ensuring responses are accurate, meet deadlines and are of a consistently high standard.
- Initiate court proceedings as the official applicant and model litigant.
- Provide instruction, support, and guidance to Caseworkers in all court matters, including the Children's Court, and where required, the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA), District, and Supreme Courts.
- Managing and supporting staff with time frames, work allocation and performance management when required.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and foster collaboration across the agency and with community, government and non government partners - including Grandmothers Against Removal (GMAR), Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs), and Aboriginal Community Controlled Mechanisms (ACCMs) - to strengthen consultation, partnerships, and outcomes for children, young people, and families.
- Contributing to operational and policy issues and change management strategies in support of agency goals and objectives.
- Engage in consultation with senior leaders and executives to determine appropriate courses of action in matters that are sensitive, high-risk, or critical to business operations.
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social Science, Welfare or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in applying best practice casework with children, young people and their families.
- Experience leading and managing teams in complex and challenging situations, including a high-volume work area.
- A demonstrated understanding of trauma informed care and the impact poverty, trauma and violence have on children and their families.
- A valid driver's licence, as travel is a requirement of the role.

As a Team Leader, you will lead and supervise a team of professionals and support staff in the delivery of integrated statutory and non-statutory welfare and safety services to vulnerable children and families in remote communities. About the roleReporting to the Nugel Senior Program Manager, the Nugel Team Leader, will play a key leadership role in working with Aboriginal children and families, and Government and sector partners to strive for better outcomes for children and to build the capacity of families so that children can remain at home safely, or can be transitioned home.
Nugel implements Section 18 of the Child Youth and Families Act (CYFA) which transfers responsibility for decision making and direct work with Aboriginal children and their families from Department of Families Fairness and Housing (DFFH) Child Protection to VACCA. Key to transforming the way child protection is delivered, is implementing Nugel's unique practice approach which is based on Cultural Therapeutic Ways; a whole of agency approach that places culture at the centre and integrates this with theories of self-determination and trauma. The Team Leader is central to ensuring that this approach is delivered by staff they manage.
The Team Leader will provide supervision and leadership to a team of Case Managers, ensuring that all practice requirements are met. This includes investigation, assessment and action needed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children in the program, in addition to developing case plans that meet the long-term needs of the child. Always ensuring staff practice in culturally safe ways in line with the Nugel Practice Approach and VACCA's Cultural Therapeutic Ways. In addition, they may be required to carry a small caseload.
About You 1. Commitment to VACCA's Vision and Cultural Values- Demonstrates strong alignment with VACCA's values and purpose, with the capacity to lead and advocate for these both internally and externally.
- Displays deep understanding and respect for Aboriginal cultures, with a commitment to ongoing learning and awareness of key issues affecting Aboriginal communities.
- Skilled in overseeing harm investigations, interviewing involved parties, managing children on protection orders, and supporting staff in court-related work, including report preparation and testimony.
- Understanding of the legislations, policy and practice requirements relating to Aboriginal children, families, and communities.
- Leads complex casework involving trauma-affected children, using culturally safe and therapeutic approaches to support healing and building resilience.
- Capable of guiding and mentoring staff in understanding child development, trauma, and attachment, especially in the context of Aboriginal children.
- High-level written, computer, and administrative skills, with the ability to prepare, review, and maintain accurate reports and client records.
- Demonstrates emotional intelligence, self-care, flexibility in work hours (including on-call), and encourages a culture of learning and professional growth.
- Demonstrates strong teamwork in high-pressure environments, mentors' staff, and team wellbeing
A recognised Social Work degree or a similar welfare or behavioural related degree, valid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children's Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and aVictorian Driver Licence.Current COVID-19 vaccination(Strongly Recommended).

Orthopaedic Surgeon Position Summary The orthopaedic surgeon functions as part of a surgical team and provides direct clinical services and/or supports in-country hospital teams to improve the quality of medical and surgical care through diagnosing, treating, preventing and rehabilitating musculoskeletal injuries and diseases, both surgically and non-surgically. The role assists with the organisation and management of medical and clinical services in close collaboration with local medical and hospital counterparts. The orthopaedic surgeon ensures the continuity of care and respect for medical ethics and patient confidentiality. They work in local or Red Cross hospital structures, often in limited resources settings and challenging security environments.
Essential Requirements
- Citizen or permanent resident of Australia.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- Level B2 (CEFR standard) in a second language (French).
- Extensive (3 years or greater) professional experience as aligned with the technical and behavioural competencies (outlined below).
- Previous international humanitarian and/or development experience in low-income countries (non-government organisations, international organisations or charity).
- Minimum availability to deploy for 3 months, and with 4 weeks' notice.
- University degree in medicine with specialisation in orthopaedic surgery.

The ICRC works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. The ICRC takes action in response to emergencies and directs and coordinates the international activities conducted in these situations while at the same time promotes respect for international humanitarian law. The ICRC is an independent and neutral organization with their mandate stemming from the Geneva Conventions of 1949.
The ICRC detention doctor visit places of detention as part of a team of ICRC delegates. The role primarily examines everything relating to individual and collective detainee health: hygiene, access to water, nutritional status, access to food and medical care and the functioning of the healthcare system within the detention facility. The role also involves examining specific cases and documenting instances of torture and other types of ill-treatment, both physical and psychological.
