About the role

Mater Young Adult Health Centre is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse to join the Clarence Street ADAWS (Adolescent Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Service) program in this permanent, full-time role.

A structured 5-bed, 24-hour residential withdrawal service supporting young people aged 13 to 21 experiencing substance use-related harms. This role involves facilitating withdrawal plans and delivering holistic, strength-based care to young people, supporting their physical withdrawal and overall health needs including sexual and reproductive health, immunisations and follow-up care. The Clinical Nurse will contribute to integrated care plans, participate in group facilitation and support the ADAWS Program Coordinator to ensure a safe, supportive environment for young people from across Queensland.

Clarance Street ADAWS accepts referrals from across Queensland and forms part of the broader Mater Young Adult Health Centre, which offers a continuum of services including a longer-term residential program (Thread), specialist youth outreach, a drop-in Day Program, and parent psycho-education and support through individual, couple, and group interventions.

In this role, you will provide comprehensive clinical services to young people, including assessment, management, health promotion, and coordination of care within a multidisciplinary team.

• Assessing and managing young people with complex and simple health presentations, including intoxication and withdrawal syndromes
• Developing and implementing individual health and withdrawal management plans, including pharmacotherapy support
• Delivering brief interventions, education, and supported referrals to navigate the healthcare system
• Liaising with community health providers to facilitate follow-up care and immunisations
• Participating in multidisciplinary case reviews and contributing to team-based care at Clarence Street Service
• Providing secondary consultation and clinical advice to internal teams and external stakeholders
• Maintaining accurate medical records, data entry, and preparing clinical reports and discharge summaries
• Engaging in supervision, professional development, and attending team and network meetings
• Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with external service providers and stakeholders
• Contributing to continuous quality improvement, program evaluation, and ensuring compliance with policies and ethical standards

About you

You are a registered nurse with relevant experience and skills in supporting young people facing mental health, alcohol and other drug (AOD)harms, and diverse backgrounds, demonstrating strong clinical knowledge, communication, and teamwork abilities.

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• Postgraduate training in mental health and/or AOD highly desirable
• Understanding of health issues affecting young people, including mental health, AOD, and diverse groups such as LGBTIQA+, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and CALD communities
• Experience in clinical management of alcohol and other drug withdrawal
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, policy, and clinical practice related to youth engagement and care
• Skilled in screening, assessment, care planning, and service consultation
• Familiarity with primary health and tertiary referral pathways
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage confidential information
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Current Queensland Open C Driver's Licence and willingness to undergo a criminal history check

Additional requirements include participation in an on-call roster and flexibility to work across teams within the Mater Young Adult Health Centre and Clarence Street Service.

Role Summary

The Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Clinician plays a vital role in providing support and intervention for individuals struggling with substance use issues. Based in Warrnambool, Victoria, this full-time contract position provides culturally appropriate support, education, early intervention, and referral pathways for individuals and families affected by alcohol and other drug use. The program focuses on harm reduction, recovery, and improving health and wellbeing outcomes.

The AOD Clinician works in partnership with clients throughout their individual treatment journey, providing flexible, person-centred, and strengths-based support that respects each client's right to self-determination. The role empowers clients to identify their goals, build on their strengths, enhance their social and emotional wellbeing, and improve health outcomes while maintaining connection to culture, family, and community.

The AOD Clinician will work with adults (aged 16 years and over) to provide assessment, therapeutic counselling, case management and care-coordination. This role includes work with voluntary and sanctioned (forensic) clients. Some clients may engage in individual therapeutic counselling, whilst others may require a combination of counselling and case management/care coordination.

About Connected Care

Connected Care is a statewide, integrated mental health service delivered by Wellways in partnership with Stride Mental Health and Clarity Health Care and commissioned by Primary Health Tasmania (PHT). Supporting adults aged 18 years and over, Connected Care provides free mental health care and support through a "no wrong door" approach and stepped-care model.

Our centralised statewide after-hours service provides additional access to support outside core service hours.

About you

As Clinical Team Leader, you will provide visible, accessible and hands on leadership to the Northern Tasmania clinical team. About Connected Care Connected Care is a statewide, integrated mental health service delivered by Wellways in partnership with Stride Mental Health and Clarity Health Care and commissioned by Primary Health Tasmania (PHT). Supporting adults aged 18 years and over, Connected Care provides free mental health care and support through a 'no wrong door' approach and stepped-care model. Our centralised statewide after-hours service provides additional access to support outside core service hours.

About you As Clinical Team Leader, you will provide visible, accessible and hands-on leadership to the Southern Tasmania clinical team. You will oversee the day-to-day coordination of the clinical workforce, providing practice guidance, supporting clinical decision making and ensuring service delivery remains safe, responsive and aligned with Connected Care's model of care. The Role

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) - Rapid Access Service (RAS) pilot is an integral senior clinical leadership role within the Older Persons Mental Health Service, providing timely assessment, consultation, care recommendations, follow-up review and support for older people experiencing behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) and provide ongoing education on the pilot to Residential Aged Care Homes (RACHs). This position will have oversight of the pilot ensuring the referrals are actioned in a timely manner, accurate data is collected and documented appropriately and that the pilot is operating within the current model of care. Working in partnership with the Consultant Psychiatrist, Team Leader, multidisciplinary team, and key service providers, the CNC plays a key role in ensuring appropriate intervention for older Tasmanians experiencing BPSD in residential aged care homes. Wherever possible, the role supports older people to remain safely in their usual place of residence reducing avoidable hospital presentations and admissions.

The Team

The Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMHS) North/Northwest Community Team is a specialised multidisciplinary service supporting older Tasmanians to maintain their mental health, wellbeing, independence, and quality of life within their own homes and communities. As part of Tasmania's Statewide Older Persons Mental Health Service, we provide assessment, treatment, consultation, and support for people experiencing mental illness, behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia, neurocognitive disorders, Huntington's Disease, and complex mental health needs associated with ageing. Our team includes nursing, psychiatry, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, and allied health professionals who work collaboratively with consumers, families, carers, general practitioners, residential aged care providers, hospitals, and community services across the North and Northwest regions.

The position is located at the Older Persons Community Mental Health Services North and Northwest and will require the successful applicant to travel to different locations across the Northern regions of Tasmania.

You will need

• Demonstrated advanced level of clinical expertise specific to BPSD, and knowledge in the delivery and coordination of services similar to RAS, including assessment, triage and client centred care.

What You Bring

• Current registration (or eligibility) as a Nurse and/or Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
• Minimum five years post-registration clinical experience
• Substantial senior management experience spanning personnel, finance, and strategic planning
• Demonstrated success leading significant organisational change and implementing new service delivery models - essential within a SA Health or comparable regional health context
• Proven ability to maintain safety and quality accreditation standards in a complex health environment
• Highly developed communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills

The Team

The nurse unit Manager (NUM) is part of the Beaconsfield District health Service leadership team and works closely with the Director of Nursing to provide safe, high quality person centred care to our community.

The nursing team consists of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses and Assistants, supported by allied health, hotel services, administration, activities and Diversional therapists, community and home help support staff. The team provides 24 hour care across aged care, sub-acute, respite, palliative care, day centre and community services as part of a rural Multipurpose Service.

The team works collaboratively with a strong focus on resident and patient safety, quality improvement, workforce development and a positive, respectful culture. As part of the Tasmanian Health Service, we partner with consumers, families, GPs and community organisations to deliver accessible integrated health care to the West Tamar community.

The Role

As Nurse Unit Manager at Beaconsfield District health Service, you will provide effective clinical and operational leadership across our rural Multipurpose Service. You will lead and support a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of safe, high quality person centred care across sub-acute, residential aged care and community services.

You will be responsible for the day to day management of the service, including workforce planning, clinical governance, quality and safety, staff development and supporting positive workplace culture. Working collaboratively with staff, consumers, families and key stakeholders, you will contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of responsive health services that meet the need of the West Tamar community.

You will need

• Demonstrated extensive clinical knowledge and experience relevant to acute, subacute, emergency, Residential Aged Care, and community care.
• Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in contemporary nursing management practice, including clinical governance; clinical risk management; evidenced based practice; research; clinical standards; ethics; and legislation.
• Individuals will demonstrate capability to be adaptable and respond and adjust easily to change. They are proactive and self-directed and will seize opportunities and act upon them, ensuring improved outcomes for the practice area.
