WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is offering a unique opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist (CAMHS) to join one of its highly desirable regions - the Great Southern.

This is a vacancy to fill one permanent, sessional appointment at 0.6 FTE (12 sessions per fortnight) at Albany. One session = 4 hours.

Consultant Year 1-9: $815.10 - $1,035.88 per session.

The above rate is as per WA Health System Medical Practitioners AMA Industrial Agreement 2024 (inclusive of base Salary, 12% superannuation, and professional development allowance, pro rata). This is subject to the assessment of qualifications, clinical skills, and years of practice.

In this position, you will deliver comprehensive clinical assessments and provide psychiatric care and treatment for children and adolescent in the community and inpatient setting. The caseloads are extremely manageable, and being on the on-call roster for the regional psychiatric service is negotiable.

There is a strong commitment to ongoing education, training, and research with ongoing projects and links with the local Rural Clinical School and local Universities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide clinical governance across the Great Southern for the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Stream in consultation with the CAMHS Regional Team Leader.

• Deliver comprehensive clinical assessments, diagnoses, and psychiatric treatment, ensuring that best practice clinical interventions are provided for children and adolescents.

• Liaise and confer regularly with general practitioners, paediatricians and other health care professionals.

• Supervise and mentor medical students, junior doctors and rural training psychiatry registrars.

• Participate in continuing professional development and contribute to education, training and research projects relevant to the mental health service.

• Provide a secondary consultation service during clinic hours for General Practitioners in the catchment area.

• Participate in the on-call roster for the mental health team and the Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) roster (negotiable).

The Great Southern Mental Health Service is a well-established service comprising of Child and Adolescent, Adult community and Consultant Liaison service. The CAMHS team is based in the community clinic in Albany and provides outreach to other towns in the region. This role will involve working in the Busselton Health Campus Anaesthetics for 6 months, and Bunbury Hospital Anaesthetics for 6 months in order to achieve the AC-RGA. There is also the possibility of further anaesthetic time to consolidate your learning or 6 months in the Bunbury ICU to increase your critical care experience subject to availability. Between these 2 sites the successful candidate will gain great exposure to all relevant areas of anaesthetic practice, including Paediatrics, Obstetrics, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, General Surgery, and many more.

You will work alongside 16 Consultants and 3 Registrars and there is ample opportunity to gain good quality and quantity of anaesthetic volume of practice. We are recruiting for Urology Fellow. This position provides and promotes high quality and patient centred care to inpatients and outpatients of the specialty under the supervision of consultant medical staff. It also provides training, supervision and education for Resident Medical Officers (RMOs). The successful fellows, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, will work to achieve National, State and Metropolitan Health Service performance standards and the National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards.

We offer comprehensive urological care, ranging from robotic, minimally invasive to open oncological surgery (prostate, bladder, renal, testicular, and penile) and complex reconstructive procedures. Apart from being involved in major surgery, there are dedicated fellow outpatient and theatre sessions (to be decided based on level of experience). The successful fellow will also be a part of an academic research team, with the aim to publish 2 research projects with the assistance of registrars and residents in the unit.
