SCHN - Staff Specialist - Kids Rehab, CHW (eCredential)

The Kids Rehab department at The Children's Hospital at Westmead are seeking a Permanent 0.7 FTE (28 Hours per week) Staff Specialist to join their team.

What you'll be doing

Provide excellent clinical services to children and their families as part of a multi disciplinary team. The primary roles will be the AMO for children with movement disorders such as cerebral palsy and acquired injuries such as brain injuries in the Kids Rehab Services.

Participate in review and improvement activities, as well as training and education of staff.

Abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews for clinical services in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

The Staff Specialist will ensure that;

• Clinical Services are focused on delivering excellent clinical care to children and supporting their families.
• Research and teaching is undertaken and focused on the area of Rehabilitation.
• The Staff Specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine is appointed to provide specialist medical officer involvement in the interdisciplinary care and long term follow up of children and adolescents with complex rehabilitation needs, ensuring transition to adult based services where required, following onset of disability from trauma, disease or associated with congenital conditions. Provision of specialist paediatric rehabilitation care including inpatient subacute and ambulatory (day rehab and outpatient) rehabilitation services to patients of the Children's Hospital at Westmead and highly specialised care to statewide and interstate patients as needed with neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. There is an expectation that the staff specialist will work collaboratively with other health professionals at the Children's Hospital at Westmead, within the SCHN and in the Community to facilitate access of children to specialty paediatric rehabilitation services and to improve outcomes of rehabilitation intervention for children with complex medical conditions with physical and other impairments causing functional difficulties in day to day living

The NSW Newborn Screening (NBS) Programme, situated in The Children's Hospital at Westmead, includes the State Reference Laboratory which screens all newborns in NSW and the ACT for the detection of over 30 inborn errors of metabolism. The Department also provides an advisory service for the further investigation, monitoring and management of patients detected with a disorder by the screening tests, as well as specialised services to interstate and overseas reference laboratories.

The PSO for NBS will be responsible for the quality and performance of all aspects of the NBS laboratory and will be the scientific representative of the laboratory at state, national and international levels. They should have a thorough knowledge of the scientific aspects of newborn screening and be abreast of technology changes in order to be able to bring innovation into the laboratory.

They will be expected to drive the development of services to meet the needs of the customer and to manage and implement change in accordance with quality principles.

The Principal Scientist will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary health care team and consumers of the Sydney Children's Hospital Network to effectively deliver services.

The General Medicine department at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick are seeking 2 x 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week) Staff Specialists to join their team. The appointment will be for a 2-year period, with an option of extending for a further 2 years pending a performance review. The commencement dates of each successful candidate will differ, with one position commencing ASAP and the other position with an anticipated commencement date on 1st January 2027. This position is located across NSW.

What you'll be doing

Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, part of the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, is seeking the services of a paediatrician to provide short periods of leave relief to rural paediatricians across NSW. The "back to base" time is flexible and can be negotiated to complement the successful applicant's interests and skills and support their professional development. Just over half of the time will be spent in rural NSW, with the remainder of the time linked with the General Paediatric Department of the successful applicant's choice of one of the Children's Hospitals in NSW.

This is a 0.5 FTE temporary Staff Specialist position, for two years with the option to extend for a further two years pending performance review.

Successful applicants will provide excellent clinical services to children and their families as part of a multi-disciplinary team. They will participate in review and improvement activities, as well as training and education of staff. Successful applicants will be expected to abide by the hospital code of conduct and participate in annual performance reviews for clinical services in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

We are looking to appoint Consultant Paediatricians to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital - the largest referral hospital in the district, and the paediatric hub for the Riverina.

Working alongside Clinical Director of Paediatrics you'll join a collegial team delivering general and acute paediatric care in a purpose-built facility, with genuine scope to shape services. A sub-specialty interest - particularly developmental paediatrics - would be warmly welcomed.

• 21-bed Paediatric & Adolescent Unit (PAU), including a dedicated 8-bed paediatric short stay unit
• 7-bed purpose-built Special Care Nursery providing inpatient neonatal services
• Care for infants, children and adolescents from birth to age 16-17 (if still at school)
• Purpose-built hospital opened January 2016, with further redevelopment completed in 2021
• Dedicated playroom, outdoor area and a qualified play specialist; on-site Ronald McDonald Family Room for parents and carers
• 24-hour Emergency Department; strong multidisciplinary support from nursing, allied health, JMOs and Registrars
• Established referral pathways to tertiary centres (Sydney Children's Hospitals Network and Royal Children Melbourne)
• Opportunity to contribute to teaching (Charles Sturt University Rural Medical School), supervision and departmental development

• Specialist registration (or eligibility for registration) with AHPRA as a Paediatrician
• FRACP (or equivalent qualification recognised by the RACP for the SIMG pathway)
• Experience across general paediatrics and neonatal/special care; sub specialty interest (developmental, respiratory, gastroenterology, etc.) welcomed
• Commitment to teaching, quality and rural service leadership
• Current NSW Working With Children Check, immunisation compliance and unrestricted right to work in Australia (visa sponsorship available for suitable SIMG candidates)

• Base salary $197,583 - $266,942 p.a. pro rata (Staff Specialist State Award, 2025 rates), plus:
