An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified medical practitioner to join the South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) Central Support Service as a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO). In this role, you will provide expert assessment and management of people seeking access to voluntary assisted dying under the NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2022, delivering services across hospital and community settings. Acting as a Coordinating, Consulting and/or Administering Practitioner, you will help ensure high-quality, compassionate care while maintaining compliance with legislative requirements. You will also contribute to clinician support, education, research, and professional development, playing a key role in the ongoing development of VAD services across the District.

The Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) Visiting Medical Officer ( VMO) will provide expert medical assessment and management of people requesting access to voluntary assisted dying under the NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2022 and will work as part of the SWSLHD VAD Central Support Service. They will ensure a high standard of professional performance acting as VAD Coordinating, Consulting, and Administering practitioners, and contribute to the program to so that clinicians, services, and the public are well served, and all aspects of the legislation are complied with. SWSLHD VAD Services are provided to people within our hospitals and community settings. The VMO will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research, and professional development. To fulfill the Coordinating or Consulting practitioner role, applicants must hold specialist registration or hold general registration and have been practicing in the medical profession for at least 10 years. What you'll be doing
In addition to the normal Senior Medical Practitioner position description for the relevant clinical specialty, the incumbent will work in partnership with the Director of Mental Health Nursing/District Director of Service /General Manager and the District Clinical/ District Director in order to ensure that the Department provides high quality medical and health care services with safe, efficient and effective use of allocated resources, in line with the organisational objectives and the Clinical Services Plan.

It is imperative that the Clinical Director works in collaboration with other senior staff within the department and Site or Directorate, requiring reliable and consistent communication methods to achieve shared tasks. The new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital (ERH) will be larger than Moruya and Batemans Bay hospitals combined, designed with the capacity to grow as demand for services changes. The NSW Government has funded $330 million to build a sustainable, modern and purpose-built hospital to support the needs of the entire Eurobodalla Community. The facility is due to open in 2027. What you'll be doing

The Eurobodalla paediatrician will be expected to provide outpatient clinics at the current Moruya Hospital and then the Eurobodalla Regional Hospital and outreach clinics in Narooma and Batemans Bay with the possibility of additional sites being added in the future. The paediatrician will participate in the provision of education and training in the SNSWLHD Coastal Network. This position also involves 1in 4 participation in a 24/7 on call roster to Eurobodalla Regional Hospital with telehealth consultation services to hospitals in the Coastal Network. Selection Criteria

Recognised specialist qualifications - Fellow of The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) or the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) with Advanced Skills Training in Paediatrics

Demonstrated recent clinical experience and competence in general paediatric medicine including acute care, neonatal care and outpatient general paediatrics (including learning, development and behavioural medicine). Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking a dedicatedStaff Specialist in Emergency Medicine to join our team at Canterbury Hospital!

The primary purpose of the role is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Emergency Medicine, and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Emergency Department and Hospital as required.

The Emergency Medicine Staff Specialist will provide clinical care to adult and paediatric patients who present to The Canterbury Hospital Emergency Department (ED). In addition to carrying a clinical patient load, the Staff Specialist will be expected to supervise junior medical staff, review clinical cases seen by juniors or trainees, and provide senior decision making to expedite clinical care and patient flow. The Staff Specialist must be capable of working collaboratively with nursing managers in managing the ED floor to optimise patient flow and maintain a safe working environment. They must be able to communicate with admitting teams, medical retrieval teams and tertiary referral centres for escalation of patient care when appropriate.

The Staff Specialist will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.

The successful applicant will be a current registered Medical practitioner, registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) with recognised qualifications in Emergency Medicine and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.
