Job Description

We are currently seeking to engage a QLD-based Remote Area Registered Nurse for a Maximum Term Contract, through to the end of February 2027 (with possibility of extension). The work pattern is seven days on, seven days off (Wednesday to Wednesday, 12-hour shifts). This role will be based at our Mount Isa Mine Site, QLD.

FIFO available from Brisbane Airport - accommodation is provided in Mt Isa, and the use of a vehicle.

If you are an experienced remote area Registered Nurse who is passionate about delivering gold standard care and health promotion to our onsite work force, you will be perfect for the position! The successful candidate will have a current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). You must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and skills in phlebotomy and immunisations would be a bonus. You will need to complete a medical clearance to work onsite, and meet commercial drive standards. Your workplace will alternate between our mine site clinic and our George Fisher site. Advanced Life Support Certificate is required, and there is the possibility of having to go underground if required (to assist with injuries).

You will join a paediatric service that offers meaningful, hands-on medicine in a setting where your contribution is truly valued. The department provides care for children from across the region and sits within a hospital that delivers a wide mix of medical, surgical, maternity, emergency, mental health and outpatient services. Previous public job material for this service also highlights a 15-bed paediatric ward and a 4-bed special care nursery, making it an appealing role for a general paediatrician who enjoys both inpatient and newborn work within a regional setting.

This is not a small isolated facility, but a significant regional hospital with a genuinely important role in the health system. It has undergone redevelopment in recent years, including investment in a new Emergency Department, new Outpatients Department, Mental Health Unit and Paediatrics Unit, and it remains the principal hospital for the broader north-west region. North West Queensland is seeking a General Practitioner to join a hospital-based outreach service. You will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm, with a one-hour lunch, alongside 2-3 RNs, Aboriginal health workers and admin staff.

Communicare software experience is preferred. You will see GP patients in a co-located hospital service with 24/7 SMO support, delivering culturally appropriate, high-quality care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across a vast 640,000 km2 region.
