The Position

As an endorsed Nurse Practitioner, you will provide advanced autonomous clinical care within the Emergency Department, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients within an approved scope of practice.

You will also provide leadership through education, mentorship, service development and quality improvement, while working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and flow.

Selection Criteria

Clinical Leadership experience at a senior level in a tertiary, regional health service. or equivalent.

Holds or is working towards Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA), or Associate Fellowship of RACMA (AFRACMA), or equivalent post-Graduate health management qualification(s).

Demonstrated experience and interest in the organisation and management of medical staff within a rapidly changing hospital environment with a client-centred and clinically driven management philosophy.

Sound knowledge of and experience in contemporary human resource management issues.

Demonstrated understanding of junior medical staff issues as they impact in a teaching hospital environment.

Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills and ability to work with and lead other staff including the ability to work and liaise with other health professionals.

The Package

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging

The Youth Hospital in the Home (Y‑HiTH) team is part of the Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) in North‑West Tasmania. Based in Devonport, this multidisciplinary team provides intensive, home‑based mental health care for young people aged 16–24. Be part of a multidisciplinary youth mental health service (16-25 years of age) delivering high quality mental health care and, in accordance with Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies.

You will need to:

The team at THS Pathology -LGH comprises a large team involving multi-disciplinary scientists, technicians, non-technical staff and Pathologists.

The Role:

This role will support the Staff Specialist Microbiologist by providing clinical and diagnostic advice to Pathology and the ID physician team within the Infectious Diseases Department at LGH. The position will also provide leave coverage for the Staff Specialist Microbiologist during periods of absence.

You will need:

• Experience in management of the clinical microbiology service including bench-level advice
• Experience in communication of critical microbiology results to the treating teams

The Launceston General Hospital is an accredited 450 bed teaching hospital and is the major referral hospital for Tasmania's North and North-West. The hospital provides emergency and acute care, specialist services, inpatient and ambulatory care to Launceston and surrounding areas. Launceston General Hospital is the largest employer in the region with around 2,300 staff.

The Clifford Craig Foundation is the community arm of the hospital. It aims to improve the health of the community through the provision of funding for innovative medical research, education of health professions, funding of medical equipment and patient facilities within the hospital. Most importantly, all donations are spent in Northern Tasmania and used to provide doctors, nurses and other health professionals with unique medical research opportunities they would find difficult to get at other regional hospitals. Details of appointment

Fixed term full time, day worker (with on call) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible for a two-year period. Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

Specialist Medical Practitioners

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $222,789 - $319,701 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging

Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $309,222 -$319,701 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award

• Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2025

In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

• Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year
• Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $30,254 per annum, pro rata
• Participation in Private Practice Scheme 35% or allowance in lieu of private practice schemes 35%
• Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $17,483 per annum, pro rata
• Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.

The Department of Health in Tasmania invites applications for Specialist Medical Practitioners at Launceston General Hospital. The role offers a fixed-term full-time position with day work and on-call, up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing soon for two years.

Salary ranges from $222,789 to $319,701 per annum pro rata with 12% super and access to salary packaging; additional benefits include private vehicle, CPD allowance, relocation support, and the Private Practice Scheme.

The Team

The Royal Hobart Hospital Low Vision Clinic provides specialist assessment, person-centred rehabilitation advice and clinical management for people experiencing significant vision impairment from across Tasmania. Working closely with Ophthalmology, Orthoptics, Allied Health professionals, rehabilitation providers and community organisations, the service delivers person-centred care that supports independence, participation and quality of life.

The Role

This role is ideal for an experienced Optometrist and presents an opportunity to expand their clinical impact through specialist statewide service, while maintaining an existing private practice or other professional eye care role.

You will need

• High-level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with patients, hospital staff and external stakeholders
• Demonstrated interest in low vision rehabilitation and a willingness to participate in on-the job training and mentoring. Prior experience in low vision is ideal but not essential.
• Demonstrated ability to apply person-centred rehabilitation assessment and therapeutic intervention planning.
• Proven ability to practice in the absence of general professional guidance, exercising sound professional judgement whilst working within a multidisciplinary team and environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional education. As a teaching hospital, staff at the Royal Hobart Hospital require an ability and willingness to undertake teaching and mentoring of students and staff.

The Team:

Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is a multi-speciality teaching hospital catering to community in Northern Tasmania. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, LGH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions.

THS Pathology at Launceston General Hospital is a Public Pathology GX laboratory located in LGH and provides multi-disciplinary diagnostic services to community in Northern Tasmania. We offer advanced Laboratory Haematology training and we have a team of dedicated haematologists who supervise the trainees for Laboratory Haematology.

At THS Pathology at Launceston General Hospital, we focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

The Role:

• Participate and train in the diagnostic Haematology service for inpatients and outpatients of the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) under the supervision of Clinical and Laboratory Haematologists.
• Work collaboratively with medical and scientific staff and other health professionals in a role commensurate with experience.
• Assist with the Haematology consultation services
• Participate in Haematology outpatient services in a role commensurate with experience
• Undertake haematology procedures eg: Bone marrow biopsies for the malignant and non-malignant patients with haematological disorders as requested by the haematologists.
• Organise MDT and other meetings relevant to the registrar training.

You will need to

• Demonstrate a commitment to training in Laboratory Haematology
• Previous work experience relevant to the role.

With direction and supervision provided by specialist medical staff, the Registrar - Laboratory Haematology is responsible for:

• Adherence to Hospital and professional protocols, policies, clinical pathways and standards.
• Demonstrating sound judgement and competence in accordance with skills and knowledge when undertaking tasks.
• Ensuring work is carried out in accordance with relevant Work Health and Safety legislation and procedures.

Essential Requirements:General or limited registration with AHPRA - Medical Board of Australia.

Desirable requirements: Previous experience in Laboratory Haematology
