Permanent, Full Time

• Conducting inspections, assessments and investigations across a variety of environmental health matters
• Assessing development applications and processing environmental health applications
• Delivering proactive environmental health programs, sampling and compliance activities
• Providing professional advice to residents, businesses and internal stakeholders
• Supporting enforcement activities, including investigations and legal proceedings where required
• Mentoring the Environmental Health Assistant and contributing to continuous improvement across the team
• Assisting the Senior Environmental Health Officer in delivering efficient and effective environmental health services

• A current 'C' Class Driver's Licence
• Qualifications recognised for appointment as an Environmental Health Officer in Western Australia
• Eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Person and Inspector under relevant legislation
• Demonstrated experience in environmental health inspections, investigations and compliance activities
• Sound knowledge of relevant environmental health legislation, including the Food Act 2008, Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1911 and Environmental Protection Act 1986
• Strong communication, negotiation and report writing skills
• The ability to manage competing priorities while delivering high-quality customer service

Local Government experience, food safety auditing knowledge and previous mentoring experience will be highly regarded.

The Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) is the Australian Government's primary authority on radiation protection and nuclear safety. Our purpose is to protect the Australian people and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation, through understanding risks, best practice regulation, research, policy, services, partnerships and engaging with the community.

The Radiochemistry and Environmental Sciences Laboratory sits within the Radiation Health Services Branch and is responsible for ARPANSA's laboratories and field measurement capabilities required for the measurement of radiation in people and the environment. This includes maintenance of ARPANSA's radiation emergency response laboratories.

In this role, you will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of ARPANSA's Radiochemistry and Environmental Sciences (RES) Laboratory Safety Uplift Project. Operating under broad direction, you will manage complex stakeholder relationships, project governance, technical inputs and delivery activities required to achieve fit-for-purpose laboratory infrastructure outcomes that improve safety, compliance and operational resilience.

You will act as the central coordination point between scientific staff, Facilities and Engineering, WHS, procurement specialists, contractors and executive stakeholders, ensuring the right expertise is engaged at the right time to support informed decision-making and effective project delivery.

The role is responsible for establishing project governance arrangements, managing project scope, budgets, schedules, risks and dependencies, and ensuring refurbishment activities align with laboratory operational requirements and relevant standards. You will support the successful delivery of infrastructure upgrades while minimising impacts on critical laboratory functions and maintaining stakeholder confidence throughout the project lifecycle.
