About the Role
Royal North Shore Hospital Emergency Department is a busy tertiary service seeing 90,000 adult and paediatric patients annually and serving as a trauma centre and a state-wide burns and spinal referral hospital. Post Graduate Fellows have the opportunity to participate in a variety of models of care including short stay and fast track as well as take part in extensive teaching and research activities. The department has one of the largest and most successful Emergency Medicine training programs in NSW.
Purpose of the Position
The post graduate fellow does not fulfil the same duties as a specialist, it is a transition position between fellow medical practitioners into specialist roles via a short period of supervision. The post graduate fellow does not exercise independent clinical privileges and is supervised by a specialist medical officer at all times including periods of on-call. The level of supervision is commensurate to their level of experience.
You will provide care and treatment of patients, as a delegate of the specialist medical officer involved in the management of the patient, as part of a multidisciplinary team in a Northern Sydney Local Health District facility or service. This care will be provided within the scope of clinical practice endorsed by the NSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.
The position will provide clinical consultation services within NSLHD and will contribute to the teaching and training of medical students, graduates and other health care professionals and also to research, evaluation and quality improvement activities within NSLHD.
This position is temporary with the possibility of temporary extension based on performance, funding and need
Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 6 months may be considered.

RCH mental health operates as part of a broader multidisciplinary team at the Children's Local delivering the mental health services in the Brimbank Melton hub. This role supports integration between secondary care and tertiary services in, allowing families to seamlessly move up and down the tiers of the system as their mental health challenges change. Staff Specialist - Paediatrics - Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital
Located on the land of Kamilaroi/Gomeroi/Gamillaray people, Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital, with 282 beds is the largest healthcare facility in NSW outside the Sydney-Wollongong-Newcastle metropolis.
Our Paediatric and Adolescent Inpatient Unit provides services to children in the New England, North West & Upper Hunter area and is the major referral centre for the northern sector of HNELHD. The Paediatric Unit has 18 beds with over 2600 admissions per year. Including orthopaedics, ophthalmology, dental, gastroenterology, endocrinology, oncology and mental health admissions. Our Paediatric outpatient clinic sees an approximate of 5000 patients annually. Visiting subspecialty outreach clinics from JHCH include Paediatric Surgery, Endocrinology, Neurology, Brain Injury, Respiratory/CF, Haematology-oncology, Cleft palate, Immunology, Rehabilitation, Neonatal follow up, Cardiac and Out of Home Care. We boast a strong experienced community allied health team providing developmental assessments and specialty clinics.
Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital also provides Level 3 Neonatal Services, supporting newborns delivered at our Level 4 maternity service. The paediatric team attends all high-risk deliveries and provides neonatal resuscitation, stabilisation, and ongoing care for infants born 32 weeks' gestation or 1500 g, as well as initial resuscitation and stabilisation for infants born unexpectedly below these thresholds prior to NETS retrieval. Our Special Care Nursery provides short-term CPAP, phototherapy, glucose stabilisation, sepsis management, feeding and growth support, temperature regulation, and transition care for infants returning from tertiary units. Neonatal care consistently represents more than half of our inpatient workload, making it a central and defining component of the paediatrician role. The service maintains close partnership with NETS and John Hunter Children's Hospital, . What you'll be doing
The purpose of the position is to provide those functions necessary for support, treatment, measurement or supplementation of the cardiopulmonary and circulatory system of the patient. The Perfusionist performs advanced work in the selection, preparation, operation and maintenance of extracorporeal circulatory equipment. These duties are performed in close cooperation with surgical, anaesthetic and intensive care staff and in accordance with hospital policy. The primary locations of work are the cardiac operating theatre, PICU, invasive radiology suite and the transplant operating theatre, however the possibility exists of working in other areas.

About the UnitThe Breast/General Surgery Unit is part of the Division of Surgery, Anaesthesia & Procedural Medicine (SAPM) and is responsible for delivering specialist breast and general surgical services across Austin Health, including the Austin Hospital and Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital. Emergency and inpatient services are based at the Austin Hospital, while outpatient services are provided at both sites. The Unit also offers a consultative surgical service to other departments within Austin Health.

This is a senior medical staff position with responsibilities in clinical leadership, teaching and supervision, and administrative contributions to the ongoing development and performance of the Unit.

The Clinical Director Adult Bed Based Mental Health provides clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe and effective clinical services that meet relevant organisational, regulatory and accreditation standards. What you'll be doing
The NSW Newborn Screening (NBS) Programme, situated in The Children's Hospital at Westmead, includes the State Reference Laboratory which screens all newborns in NSW and the ACT for the detection of over 30 inborn errors of metabolism. The Department also provides an advisory service for the further investigation, monitoring and management of patients detected with a disorder by the screening tests, as well as specialised services to interstate and overseas reference laboratories.
The PSO for NBS will be responsible for the quality and performance of all aspects of the NBS laboratory and will be the scientific representative of the laboratory at state, national and international levels. They should have a thorough knowledge of the scientific aspects of newborn screening and be abreast of technology changes in order to be able to bring innovation into the laboratory.
They will be expected to drive the development of services to meet the needs of the customer and to manage and implement change in accordance with quality principles.
The Principal Scientist will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary health care team and consumers of the Sydney Children's Hospital Network to effectively deliver services.
The Principal Scientist provides role modelling, mentorship and leadership in the achievement of excellence in clinical practice, ensuring that Departmental:
- Resources are focussed on delivering excellent clinical care to children and supporting their families.
- Research and teaching is at a high standard.
- Plans are in line with SCHN, MOH and federal government strategic directions and congruent with financial resources.
- Activities include advocacy for children and the clinical service.
- Quality activities are implemented and a collaborative culture is developed with staff and consumers.
- Meets NATA and NPAAC requirements
