The PSCP unit is the Tasmanian Government's cancer screening authority and the leading source of information on cancer screening and prevention in Tasmania.
The Tasmanian Breast Cancer Centre is a new contemporary facility to create a comprehensive hub for public breast imaging in Tasmania, bringing together BreastScreen Tasmania's successful screening and assessment services, the Diagnostic Breast Imaging Service, and support services for patients with, or at risk of, breast cancer.
The new state-of-the-art Centre will enable the expansion of public breast care capacity in our State, improving access to breast screening and diagnostic breast imaging for Tasmanians.
As part of the Tasmanian Health Service (THS), PSCP is responsible for:
- Oversight of the local delivery of BreastScreen Tasmania and the Diagnostic Breast Imaging (DBI) service, a new THS pathway providing public diagnostic imaging services to the Tasmanian community.
- Managing and participating in three national cancer screening programs including BreastScreen Australia, National Bowel Cancer Screening Program and National Cervical Screening Program

Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award
A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.
Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $222,789 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $305,539 with further salary increments available.
- Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $309,222 - $319,701 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
Medical Practitioners Agreement 2025
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Market Allowance of $95,000 pro rata per annum
- Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle (subject to working full-time hours) OR allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $28,786 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year).
- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $17,483 pro rata per annum.
- All other allowances as per current Award.
- And subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.

About the role- Perm Fulltime Position - Monday - Friday
Our Senior Clinician is a civilian GP and a senior member of the management team within the region. Balancing both clinical and administrative responsibilities across the Larrakeyah Defence Precinct, you will be responsible for:
- Providing information, advice, and recommendations on medical issues and specialist medical services to the Health Centre manager
- General Practice consultations, referrals, health screenings and liaison with allied health professionals
- Provision of occupational health services and preventative health care
- Participating in quality and governance improvement including, giving subject matter expertise advice to clinical incident and complaints management and performance management processes
- Providing workforce advice and support including adequate staffing levels within department and supervision of clinical staff
- Conducting team meetings and staff training activities
- Managing the delivery of services against benchmark standards and other clinical governance Key Performance Indicators
This is an incredible role for clinician with a focus on mentorship, clinical leadership and continuous improvement to join our Health Centre and make a real contribution to the provision of health services to our defence force members.

- has strong management skills including leadership, conflict resolution and an understanding of medical ethics and medico legal issues

You will also require:
- Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a medical practitioner in Australia with AHPRA
- A Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) or Vocational Registration
- Post Graduate Qualifications in Health Management (Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Masters, PhD or Doctorate) or commitment to working toward same (Bupa supported fees!)
