About the RoleAn exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Surgical Liaison Nurse to join the Neurosurgery and Planned Surgery team at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne. In this specialised nursing role, you will coordinate and manage the care of Neurosurgery patients throughout their planned surgery journey, helping to ensure timely access to surgery and a smooth transition through the healthcare system. You will be primarily responsible for managing the Neurosurgery Planned Surgery waiting list in accordance with relevant policies and Department of Health requirements. Working closely with surgical teams and other key stakeholders, you will coordinate patient care, streamline the elective admission process and support initiatives aimed at reducing surgical wait times and length of stay. Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and case manage Neurosurgery patients throughout their planned surgery journey

About the role
The Western Virtual Division is a supportive, agile, and innovative team consisting of vCare (Virtual, Co-ordination, Access, Referral, Escalation), vRGS (Virtual Rural Generalist Service), iCiC (Integrated Care in the Community) and vAHS (Virtual Allied Health Service).
As a service, it operates, collaborating with rural and remote facilities, base hospitals, tertiary referral hospitals, Ambulance New South Wales, and all clinicians involved in the delivery of patient centred care.
In early 2025, Western Virtual commenced a new service - VirtualADULTs - providing virtual emergency care to patients in the community. Patients who contact Health Direct and would have previously been directed to Emergency Departments across NSW, will instead be connected with the VirtualADULTs service.
The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Virtual Emergency, Critical Care, Close Observation & VirtualADULTs provides expert clinical organisation, coordination, leadership, and consultancy services within the area of emergency, critical care and close observation in a virtual context.

What you'll be doing

What you'll do
Partner with leaders to embed Medibank's Health, Safety & Wellbeing strategy
Provide expert advice on WHS legislation, risk management and compliance
Lead incident investigations, risk assessments and audit activities
Analyse safety and people data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
Develop and enhance our HSW frameworks, policies and programs
Build strong stakeholder relationships and influence positive safety outcomes
About you
You are a confident, resilient and commercially minded safety professional who can build credibility quickly and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
You'll bring:
6+ years' experience in Health, Safety & Wellbeing
Experience partnering with leaders in healthcare, community services, emergency services, aged care, disability, justice or other field-based operational environments
Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and risk management practices
Advanced reporting and data analysis capability
Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
The ability to work autonomously, challenge constructively and drive outcomes
Relevant qualifications in WHS, Occupational Health, Risk Management or a related discipline
