This is a regional location two hours drive from Melbourne and is a sub-regional health service and the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire. The Opportunity As Consultant Geriatrician, you'll provide specialist clinical leadership across Geriatric Medicine while contributing to General Medicine and supporting rehabilitation, subacute and community-based services.

This is a highly rewarding role where you'll work closely with fellow Physicians, nursing and allied health teams to deliver comprehensive, person-centred care that promotes independence, healthy ageing and coordinated patient journeys.

Your work will include:

• Provide thorough geriatric assessments and manage inpatient cases with a dedicated focus on person-centered care.
• Execute acute and subacute ward rounds to guarantee superior patient management standards.
• Supervise rehabilitation programs, including Home-based and Better at Home services.
• Conduct clinical evaluations for patients attending the Community Hospital.
• Lead specialized outpatient clinics designed to deliver targeted care for older adults.
• Offer clinical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor and supervise junior medical staff and trainees through structured teaching and supervision initiatives.
• Spearhead quality improvement projects, clinical governance frameworks, and service development strategies.
• Partner with general medicine and allied health professionals to ensure seamless patient care pathways.
• Contribute to the strategic planning and expansion of Geriatric Medicine services within the organization.

About You

• Current registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Geriatric Medicine, or equivalent qualifications recognised by the RACP
• Applicants assessed by the RACP as substantially or partially comparable, including those suitable for Area of Need appointments, are encouraged to apply
• Experience in Geriatric and General Medicine within an acute hospital environment
• A commitment to multidisciplinary, patient-centred care
• Strong communication, leadership and teaching skills
