About the Role Health Clinician Level 3

Mental Health Intake Services is a multidisciplinary team with 3 primary streams:

• Mental Health Line, a phone-based specialist triage and referral service
• NMHEC-RAP, a telehealth mental health assessment service that provides mental health assessment to remote emergency departments.
• MH First Responder, an award wining telehealth triage service, facilitated in partnership with Police and Ambulance.

Additionally, the position provides clinical support and leadership to the clinical team to support service delivery.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting secondment opportunity for current staff at HNE Mental Health. The position sits within HNE Mental Health Intake services which includes The Mental Health Line, Northern Mental Health Emergency Care- Rural Access Program and Mental Health First Responder.

Requirements

• Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation. OR;
• Must hold a qualification in Occupational Therapy, Psychology , Dietitian, Social Work, Counsellor (Degree in Bachelor of Health Science Mental Health, Djirruwang Program) which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association / provisional or general registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and proven experience in related field or a combination of both study and experience.

• Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation to GPs, CMO's and other service providers. Demonstrated commitment to consumer and carer focused clinical practice which is collaborative and provided in a holistic and respectful way.
• Ability to conduct Mental Health assessment and triage via Telehealth or telephone and identify appropriate mental health services that will meet the consumer's needs.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment to achieve optimal outcomes for consumers and their families/carers
