What You'll be doing

Provide clinical management, treatment, and forensic care of patients in SWSLHD Sexual Assault Services (based at Liverpool Hospital), under your care. This care will be provided within the scope of practice granted by the SWS LHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee. The position operates on-call, after-hours in 12 hour shifts.

Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, offering a wide range of state-wide services including critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care, and brain injury rehabilitation. As a key teaching facility for UNSW Sydney and Western Sydney University, it provides extensive clinical services, including emergency care, cancer treatment, paediatrics, and mental health services. The hospital features 23 operating theatres and has a capacity for 877 beds.

The ongoing $830 million redevelopment as part of the Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct is transforming the hospital into a global hub for medical innovation. This redevelopment will expand clinical services, enhance research and teaching facilities, and introduce state-of-the-art equipment and amenities.

Requirements
  • Current medical practitioner, registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and/or other specialist recognition as provided under the Health Insurance Act 1973.
  • Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard in broad clinical areas including women's health, sexual health, child or adolescent health, care of the traumatised patient and ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice.
  • Demonstrated competence in clinical forensic medicine in sexual assault or willingness to accept appropriate training and supervision in the Forensic aspects of Sexual assault Examinations as arranged by the Medical Director.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education / continuing professional development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including computer literacy Preparedness to participate in on-call service, including on-call rosters already existing or established.
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with the service objectives of public health org, including the provision of services to local community, effective utilisation of resources, preparedness to participate in provision of health services at LHD level, if credentialed.
  • Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary health care team.
