The work will primarily be based in the Wimmera however there is an expectation that travel across the Grampians region may, at times, be required. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, hard-working, and committed team to divert young people away from the justice system. Ideal for people with case coordination experience and strong administrative skills, this advanced role supports young people to desist from offending and avoid future contact with the Justice System. Delivered by the youth justice service as a discrete program Children's Court Youth Diversion (CCYD) has a critical interface with the Youth Justice Court Advice Service. CCYD ensures consistent and equitable access to diversion for eligible young Victorians early in their contact with the Children's Court.

About the role:

As a CCYD Coordinator, you will ensures children and young people before the Children's Court of Victoria are supported to access and complete youth diversion. You will liaise with a range of stakeholders to conduct a comprehensive assessment for diversion suitability and strengthen young people's existing relationships and interests to promote positive change.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide authoritative advice, information and reports to stakeholders and advocate on behalf of the young person, as appropriate.
• Undertake evidence-based assessment in relation a young person's eligibility for the CCYD
• Provide short term case coordination and facilitate brief interventions for young people with complex needs
• Identify issues and trends, assess the potential application of developments in the field
• Collect and analyse data that informs current and future policy development and service delivery

About you:

• Advanced understanding of the criminal justice system as it relates to young people, and services available to young people.
• Understanding of the principles of diversion and case work and a range of assessment and brief interventions relevant to the age, gender, developmental stage and offending related needs of young people.
• An in-depth knowledge of restorative justice would be beneficial.
• A full driver's licence and current employee Working with Children Check is mandatory for this role.
