Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Practitioner/Psychotherapist to join our team in Sydney, New South Wales. This permanent, full-time role is crucial in providing high-quality mental health support and behaviour management strategies to individuals in need. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the wellbeing of clients, ensuring they receive tailored interventions that promote positive behavioural change and emotional resilience.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify clients' behavioural and emotional needs.
  • Develop and implement individualised behaviour support plans in collaboration with clients and their families.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions, including counselling and psychotherapy, to support clients in achieving their goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of behaviour support strategies, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals and educators, to ensure holistic support for clients.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with organisational policies and legal requirements.
  • Provide training and support to families and caregivers on behaviour management techniques.
  • Stay updated with the latest research and best practices in behaviour support and psychotherapy.

Qualifications:

  • A relevant degree in psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in psychotherapy or behaviour support are highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the health and safety sector.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of behaviour management strategies and therapeutic techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
  • Proficiency in assessment and evaluation methods.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Current registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., AHPRA, PACFA) is preferred.
